RIYADH: The Ministry of Education has issued new rules governing the entrance of repairmen into girls’ schools.
Al-Watan Arabic daily reported that a “curfew” is to be imposed on all pupils and teachers while workmen are on the premises and that school principals are to be held “fully responsible” for repairmen brought into schools to perform maintenance work.
The orders, a copy of which was seen by the newspaper, state that school principals must ensure no teachers and staff move about the premises while repairmen are on site and that the workmen must be accompanied at all times by a school security guard from the moment they enter the school until they complete their work and depart the premises.
Workers are also required to present school maintenance and operations offices with a document certifying that work has been completed.
